Giving is an indavidual right, not forced by GOD. Socialism is FORCED. It is neither charity or Christ like. If Socialism was Christ like then God NEVER would have givin' us free will. Where do you think the money comes from for Universal Health Care in other countries? The Small Businesses, the oil companies, anyone in the PRIVATE sector. Redistribution is NOT found anywhere in the Bible. You are very lost. I will pray for you and the others you are dragging with you. Socialism is evil. Making someone, anyone, do anything is not love. Jesus understood that. You completely misunderstood ALL of his teachings. Maybe you should take a closer look at the Proverbs 6:16-19. Also take a closer look at history as well as current events from around the world. Socialism is creating alot of pain. WHY? If GOD sought fit to bless me with free will then who am I to take that away from anyone else?
My reply:
My article was written to present God's Word in light of specific charges of Socialism that slanders His goodness. My defense is of God's Word, not Socialism. God's way of governing was established and documented long before any concept of Socialism was perpetrated on mankind. Satan has operated over thousands of years to pervert God's Word. Socialism is an example of many such perversions. I did not offer any doctrines of Marxism to make my point but the Word of God. Can't you see the difference? God is the only governing authority that is perfect and eternal. To the degree that evil is present in any governing system is the degree that the good of that system is tainted by corruption. The bait of Socialism is the expressed goodness of God our provider but perpetrated by evil. The good is not evil and the evil is not good. The bait of Capitalism is the innate greed and idolatry of man exalted before God. God is righteous and His governing authority is absolute over all creation. Governing authorities of the world including Socialism and Capitalism are corrupted by evil. You may judge one to be more evil than the other but God has long conveyed His view. In the following verses, the wrath of God upon spiritual harlotry is tied directly to the judgment of Capitalism.
Revelation 18:1-21 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her. And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls! For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city! And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate. Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her. And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
The difference between any system of rule and God's is that His rule is righteous while man's rule is by nature evil without the Spirit of God. Rejecting God's goodness because of the evil of Socialism is lumping good with evil. When God established His rule over the people of Israel under the old covenant, He blessed them with bumper crops and livestocks as long as they kept His commandment to share a designated portion of it with the poor, fatherless, the widows, strangers among them, the Levitical priesthood and for special feasts. He also instructed harvesters to not fully gleam their crops but to allow the poor to enter the fields during the harvest so they may gleam what remained for themselves. If such was done today, would you consider it evil Socialism or a godly way to provide for the poor and needy? This setting aside of produce that would otherwise have been sold for profits is in fact redistribution of wealth in a very practical and efficient way without having to have money to make the exchange. God is the only perfect example of a righteous ruler which is the very reason for choosing to serve Him and not the devil. Christians by the Spirit of God can do the good that God has demonstrated and commanded through Christ.
1Jo 3:17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
Whatever evils that are identified in any governmental system, feeding the hungry, providing for the poor, caring for prisoners and the sick are the good works among the evil. Christ made that very clear and the focus of judgment in a prophetic proclamation.
Matthew 25:31-46 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
I agree we were given a freewill by God and not forced to do good but evil is a present companion in this temporary place called the valley of decision. The consequences of our freewill choices are eternal and ENFORCED by the authority of God. We may take our freedom seriously but it will be in vain if we take God's judgment of freewill choices lightly. God is a jealous God and very serious about judging our choice between serving Him or the god of this world.
Duet 6:13-15 Thou shalt fear Jehovah thy God; and him shalt thou serve, and shalt swear by his name. Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples that are round about you; for Jehovah thy God in the midst of thee is a jealous God; lest the anger of Jehovah thy God be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
Whatever we may believe about the goodness of God, there is no escape from the severity of God if we choose to ignore His Word. Submission to God means surrendering our freewill in obedience to His will. His Word reveals His will. In humility, we must realize that freewill is inherently sinful and cannot exercise itself unto righteousness nor is it empowered to escape from hell.
Ro 11:22 Behold then the goodness and severity of God: toward them that fell, severity; but toward thee, God’s goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Temporary things of this world can not be weighed soundly without any references to the eternal things of God. To put it bluntly, God plans to destroy this world because there is no good in it.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
So why argue over things judged to be unworthy of existence instead of making life more bearable for everyone during the short time we live it? Is that evil? If our hearts are set on loving the things of this world, we cannot perceive the love of God and His eternal kingdom.
1Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Mr 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
God parted the Red Sea as a way of escape, provided food and water for a great multitude in the wilderness, and many more miraculous things that cannot be numbered. Who would dare stand before Him in judgment proclaiming that non-profit healthcare is impossible and that boundless greed is a social good or that His standards of goodness and love were set too high? If my council does not align with the Word of God, it is not worth any consideration. In any case, we are not free to exercise our will against His Word without having to face the consequences. The evil of Socialism and Capitalism will pass away but the goodness of God as written is forever.
Isa 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth; but the word of our God shall stand forever.
I leave you with words of peace knowing God will have the last say. I harbor no offense in response to adversity but love for you as God commanded.
